Makenna Bach has spent her life in the Pacific Northwest, growing up Corvallis, studying in Eugene and Seattle, and currently residing in Salem. She began piano lessons in first grade and picked up the cello in fourth grade, with much thanks to the Pirates of the Caribbean film score. Through high school, Mrs. Bach studied cello with Anne Ridlington. She holds a degree in Music Composition from the University of Oregon. While at the UO, Makenna studied cello for four years under Dr. Steven Pologe and played with the University Symphony, Orchestra Next, and various chamber ensembles.
Mrs. Bach attended graduate school at the Seattle Film Institute, graduating with a Master of Music in Film Composition. Seattle Collaborative Orchestra has premiered a piece of hers. Currently, she teaches cello, piano, and composition while maintaining an active composition career. She loves movies and is usually watching one when not playing or writing music. She also loves hedgehogs, her cat Sunny, and coffee.
