Violin & Assistant director
A Portland native, violinist Elizabeth Doty received her Bachelor’s of Music Performance degree summa cum laude from the University of Oregon, and went on to complete her Master’s of Music Performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, where she held a string quartet fellowship.
While studying at UMKC, she participated in Suzuki teacher training courses with Beth Titterington, completing coursework in Units 1 through 3. In addition to long-term studies with Kathryn Lucktenberg and Benny Kim, Elizabeth has performed in a number of master classes, including work with Monica Huggett, Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg, and James Buswell.
Ms. Doty has participated in chamber music and orchestral festivals in the U.S. and in Canada, including the Green Mountain and Killington festivals in Vermont, and the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific, in British Columbia. Elizabeth has been a member of the Columbia Symphony’s violin section since 2009.
She has been active at camp as a chamber music coach, composition teacher and violin instructor. She teaches at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, the Catlin Gabel School and students' homes.
