Mr. Jimenez is a recent graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas where he received his degree in music education. He is very excited to start his new life and teaching career here in Oregon, where he plans on staying indefinitely.
From a young age he was put into piano lessons where he first gained his love of music. Later on he found interest in other instruments, as he soon picked up the guitar and before long joined his middle school’s band program as a percussionist. From these many experiences he has learned the many intrinsic values music has to offer- increasing a person’s state of well being, along with teaching life skills such as hard work, patience, goal setting, and collaboration. While in Texas he spent ample time teaching private piano and percussion lessons in addition to working for various high school’s marching bands during the summer seasons. At TCU, he performed in a large variety of ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Orchestra, Steel bands, various jazz combos, and the Marching Band.
Mr. Jimenez’s goal for all of his students is to foster a love and appreciation of music and arts, and to create a well rounded musician who’s knowledge and understanding of their instrument goes beyond simply reading and performing music. Every student is a different person with a unique learning style who requires an individualized lesson plan, which will be designed alongside the student. Creativity and improvisation are emphasized, along with reading, technical ability, and an understanding of music theory and history.
